Sony Ericsson Q2 pretax sales loss of 283 million Euros

Sony Ericsson has now posted a 2nd quarter pretax loss which was in line with expectations and has reiterated their forecast for the world mobile phone market to contract at least 10% this year, reports Reuters

Sony Ericsson reported a quarterly pretax loss €283 million, and booked €1 million in restructuring charges. A Reuters poll of analysts had forecast a €284 million loss excluding an average restructuring charge of €62 million.

Sony Ericsson has said as expected the 2nd quarter was challenging and the remainder of the year will be difficult, our performance is however starting to improve due to cost reduction activities.
