Apple and RIM 35-percent profits and massive wireless market

Brian Modoff, Deutsche Bank analyst fed figures this morning to the Wall Street Journal. These figures speak volumes for the effectiveness and strategies of both RIM and Apple.

Combined the two companies hold 3% of the global cell phone market, 35% of the operating profits. Not surprisingly both companies have been hit hard of late but the figures speak for themselves and show strong success has been experienced by both companies.

Other than RIM and Apple, Nokia is the only other cell phone player to appear on the chart showing a profit share that outreaches it’s market share. Samsung & LG make up over 30% of the global cell phone market but only about 20% of the profits.
