The continuing battle between Apple and Palm over iTunes syncing continues with Palm releasing the iTunes sync fix for the Palm Pre, but just how did they manage to fix it?

Well according to precentral, Palm changed the Palm Pre’s Vendor ID number so iTunes reads the Palm Pre as an iPod/mass storage device.

Now the thing is this, Palm has now complained to the USB Implementers Fourm stating Apple has violated the “improper use of the Vendor ID number” by disallowing certain vendor ID numbers, in this case Palms ID. But haven’t Palm also violated the rules by changing their own vendor ID number from ID 0×083 to Apple’s ID 0x05ac?

No doubt there will be more issues over the syncing of the Palm Pre with iTunes and Apple is sure to respond and when they do will let you know.
