Why did the BlackBerry Curve 8520 gain new Trackpad?

With the launch of Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone with it comes a new BlackBerry component, we speak of course about the new trackpad on the BlackBerry Curve 8520, which is according to computerworld is the first BlackBerry to feature the trackpad.

The question is why would Research In Motion replace the trackball and deliver the new trackpad on RIM’ cheapest and low end BlackBerry?

Apparently RIM has offered an official explanation. Research IN Motion Director of Public Relations, Shelly Sofer says the BlackBerry Curve 8520 the only reason for this was timing, as the BlackBerry Curve 8520 was the next RIM handset planned to launch it got the new trackpad,
