The 2.11 ROM for the Palm Treo 680 was originally released back in December 07, and AT&T is sending out written and SMS notifications to Treo 980 users who are using an earlier version to update to 2.11 according to palm info center.
The AT&T notifications state that due to “network upgrade” the 2.11 update will give users “optimal call performance,” and contains several improvements such as Bluetooth stability, updated AT&T branding and adds push to talk compatibility.
Those Treo 680 users who already use 2.11 need take no action, as this is now a new update but just a reminder to install existing software.
