Microsoft and Nokia combine for Office on handsets

Under: Phone Software Date: August 13th, 2009

Well, its not quite the news that we were all hoping for following the conference yesterday between Microsoft and Nokia.

They discussed the co-developing of exciting smartphones, along with unveiling of Nokia’s first netbook and Microsoft announced a version of Microsoft Office for Symbian. This is hardly groundbreaking stuff, and Microsoft’s official Nokia support won’t actually come until some time in 2010.

Strangely enough the deal seems to be giving users less incentive to buy a Windows Mobile smartphone, but on the positive side it does of course bring together the largest handset maker in the world with the most ubiquitous software production company in the world. Source - trustedreviews.com

Microsoft seems to be having a rough go lately. I hope this works for them.
