AMOLED Tech beginning to take hold of smartphones

Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode displays, or AMOLED as we all know it, are making an appearance in smartphones and makers utilise the tech to gain an edge is an area where competition is becoming fierce reports Reuters.

Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode displays consume little power and deliver superior image quality. Samsung Electronics is the main proponent of AMOLED tech and has 8 handsets featuring organic displays and is expected to roll out a further 10 this year.
