China Unicom order 5 million iPhones for September

The deal to get the iPhone into China seems to be running quite smoothly as China Unicom has now ordered five million Chinese iPhone units from Apple and the first batch is due to be shipped in September reports ibtimes.

The word is China Unicom has already handed over 10 billion yuan, that’s about $1.46 billion to Apple for 5 million WCDMA standard iPhones which will carry a price tag of 2,000 yuan approximately $293.

Vice Genergal Manager of China Unicom, Yu Zaonan has said the first batch of iPhones will be at China Unicom 3G stalls at Carrefour along with some larger retail outlet run by China Unicom in September.
