Howard Stringer chairman of the board appointed as Sony Ericsson president

It would seem as though Sony Ericsson are trying to redesign both its lineup and image. Their President Hideki Komiyama, (pictured left) plans to retire towards the end of the year.

Bert Nordberg (pictured right) head of Ericsson Silicon Valley will be taking his place. As of 1st September he will become co-president and take over control of the operation on 15th October. While on the subject of 15th October, it is also the date Chairman and CEO of Sony, Howard Stringer will release Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg from his post and become chairmanship of Sony Ericsson’s executive board.

It is unsure if this is a shift in power between Ericsson to Sony, but it was a topic mentioned at a conference today, they announced these moves are too “address [their] smartphone weakness”. We hope that Bert Nordberg does exactly that.
