It’s is coming near to the time when Verizon are going to be launching their app store, they have arranged an “Apply Your Ideas” contest for developers.

The contest kicked on 14th August, it lets developers submit applications in 5 categories, these are: Guide, Entertain, Connect, Enhance Living and Save Time. The applications have to be new to the BlackBerry platform, and the apps work on the Storm. This is the only requirements.

The People’s Choice winner and category winners will be chosen by members of the Verizon Developer Community (VDC). A panel of judges will pick the Grand Prize winner who will be selected from the category winners. The Grand Prize winner will win $50,000, 200 percent of the application’s revenue for a year. They will also be at the launch of the V CAST Apps storefront as a featured spot.

The contest closes on 20th September; users will then be able to vote from 24th to 28th September for their favourites. Runners up will be announced on 6th October, then after that the People’s Choice winner and category winners will be voted for. The official announcement of winners will be on 30th October.
