According to a post over on precentral, they have instructions on how to install the Virtual Keyboard for the Palm Pre smartphone and apparently there is an application installer called Preware that can safely install and remove patches and the first patch is of course the virtual keyboard for the Palm Pre.
Apparently the virtual keyboard for the Palm Pre works reasonably well but does have a few kinks that require sorting out. Installing Preware is more laborious than fileCoaster and you will need to place the Palm Pre in developer mode first.
