T-Mobile Sidekicks to get free Facebook and paid Twitter apps

The T-Mobile Sidekick was one of the original mobile phones to push social text tools and now T-Mobile has announced social networking for the Sidekick range reports engadget mobile.

T-Mobile has announced a free Facebook application and a new Twitter application for $199 per month is now available for the Sidekick LX, Sidekick 2008 and the Sidekick Slide.

That $1.99 a month Twitter charge doesn’t apply to the Sidekick LX for some reason though, which does seem kind of strange in itself, anyway both social networking applications are available as of right now.

  1. The Orignal LX (from 2007) *does* get charged $1.99/month for Twitter (just like their MySpace & Photobucket apps), but the newest LX (2009) had Twitter, MySpace, Facebook & Photobucket built in for free! (no monthly charge).

also a new “Communities” sub-folder has been added to the Sidekick’s jump screen. Also a Facebook link has been added to theCamera App (but it does not seem to be working yet)
