Linux – phone grabbed by Vodafone

Celebrations all round for the LiMO Foundation as Vodafone endorse two great handsets from Samsung, although news that the Linux based alternative isn’t dead and buried will not go down too well over at Symbian.

The LiMO Foundation have already apparently launched some 42 handsets using it’s platform, but these affairs are closed with interest being only really with network operators and handset manufacturers.

Vodafone has been a member of LiMO right from the start, however, that isn’t the same as selling handsets based on the platform which is exactly what Vodafone will now be doing. Samsung has been paying lip service to other Linux based option, while releasing Symbian, Android and Windows Mobile handsets which now will be joined by at least two using LiMO.
