China Unicom to sell iPhone like Orange: Deal and Shares

Earlier on today we reported that Orange UK will start selling the Apple iPhone and now it seems that China will get this smartphone too thanks to China Unicom, Apple are opening the doors to more networks which is very good indeed.

The iPhone in China will sell at a price of 5,000 yuan ($732.50); this is a high price to pay but will encourage customers to sign up for subsidized packages carrying lower handset prices but also longer-term contract commitments.

It was back in August that China Unicom struck a deal with Apple and now it is all happening, as of

October 1 the iPhone’s will be on sale and available for services, there will be 8 packages available by Unicom for Apple iPhone which include: 126 yuan to 886 yuan per month and 893 yuan to 4,253 yuan for people who sign up for the plans.

Unicom shares fell 5 percent in Hong Kong versus a 2.1 percent drop in the broader Hang Seng Index. ($=6.83 yuan) ($1=7.750 Hong Kong Dollar)
