On Wednesday Verizon Wireless announced the Motorola Barrage, a rugged flip phone which now joins in the line up with the Nokia Shade, Samsung Razzle and of course the HTC Imagio.

It will be available for sale from October 1st for $129.99 that’s with a two year contract after a $50 mail in rebate. We can only assume that the name Barrage reflects the fact that handset can and is more than capable of handling a barrage of the elements.

The Motorola Barrage is certified to military specifications including shock, high and low temperatures, vibration and is also waterproof and can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes.
