The iPhone Dev Team has now confirmed a successful jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS on firmware iPhone 3.1, the confirmation announcement of the successful iPhone 3.1 jailbreak was announced via Twitter reports redmondpie.

Thus a new version of Pwnage Tool and ultrasn0w can be expected in due course that will fully support the jailbreak and unlock the iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.1.
