Over in the United States Sprint has officially put the Android packing HTC Hero up for sale, and is a reworking of the European HTC Hero exclusive to Sprint reports pocket-lint.
The exclusive version of the HTC Hero for Sprint comes without a chin and delivers a touch screen, 5 megapixel camera, and the Android platform operating system.
To get hold of the Sprint HTC Hero you can purchase the smartphone via the Sprint website, visiting a Sprint store or by phoning them, and the Sprint HTC Hero can be yours for $279.99 after a $100 mail in rebate which means the price you pay is $179.99.
$179 after rebate, not $279 this is with a 2 year aggreement

I have the G1 which from what I have been reading over the last month you can load the Hero rom onto the G1, I have not done this yet because I see there are some performance issues with it and dont feel like fooling with it right now cause I am sure I will just go back to the cupcake.
