Nokia N900 smartphone: Apps help Qt graphical toolkit to Maemo 5

This month Nokia release the Maemo 5 operating system packing Nokia N900, which uses the GTK+ graphical toolkit for the Nokia N900’s application development framework; however, back in July Nokia stated that furture versions of Maemo will use Qt rather and GTK+ reports zdnetasia.

Nokia acquired Qt when purchasing the developer company Trolltech in 2008, and has now announced an official Qt port for the Maemo 5 OS. Qt is used to create the UI for programs running on Mac OS, Windows Mobile, Linux and Windows and Nokia is working on a Symbian port for the graphical toolkit.
