There are a number of devices that have hit the market in an attempt to be an iPhone Killer. Such as the BlackBerry Storm and the Palm Pre.

So far none of them have actually succeeded, it is also quite unlikely that the new Motorola Droid will knock the iPhone off of it’s perch as a top smartphone, it is likely that it could well be in a position to pose the most serious threat.

One of the reasons is that the Droid is the first Android based phone being sold just by Verizon, and although Verizon seems to have lagged behind both Sprint and T-Mobile is releasing devices that run on Google’s open source platform, it is expecting to catch up very quickly. Source – sfgate.com
