iPhone Challenger seems to be the new marketing word

There seems to be one standard marketing ploy when it comes to new smartphones, and that seems to be, is the handset a potential “iPhone Challenger”. Mention the phrase “iPhone Challenger” or “iPhone killer” and you instantly have wide interest in the new handset.

Like this one concerning the Motorola Droid by sfgate who reports on the formal unveiling of the Motorola Droid on Verizon’s network and then says it’s the boldest, most open iPhone challenge yet.

This of course is probably due to Verizon’s headline catching iDon’t swipe at the iPhone. They then go on to compare the iPhone and Droid hardware, screens and keyboard, operating systems, apps, carrier quality; hit up the link for the full article.
