Verizon says 3G network will not be strained by Droid demand

Verizon Wireless is expecting unprecedented sales with the Motorola Droid smartphone along with a surge of new traffic via millions of unlimited data subscriptions reports an article over on telephony online.

However, Verizon Wireless has “expressed confidence” that their nationwide 3G network will be able to cope with the onslaught of data traffic heading their way, with Verizon director of data sales Illinois-Wisconsin region Arvin Singh saying, “We’re encouraging it.”

Singh has also stated that Verizon has long architeched their EV-DO Rev.A network to cope with this kind of demand. Verizon has EV-Do running on 3 sectors per cell site and in several congested areas they have deployed multiple EV-DO carriers.
