iPhone in China costs a small fortune

Under: Apple iPhone
Date: November 3rd, 2009

There have been many moans on what the iPhone costs across the world but if you are in China then you probably have good reason to complain as pcworld reports that China Unicom started officially selling the iconic iPhone last week.

The reason for those in China to have good reason to moan is the price for a 32GB iPhone 3GS on mainland China will set them back 6999 yuan which is a staggeringly high $1024 and that doesn’t include a contract apparently.

Over in Hong Kong, the same 32GB iPhone 3GS will hit the pocket for a little less at $800. You’d thing that those prices would put people off wouldn’t you but apparently there were roughly 300 standing in line at China Unicom’s Beijing flagship store.
