First iPhone Worm Takes Hold in Australia

First iPhone Worm Takes Hold in Australia

Under: Apple iPhone, Phone Software
Date: November 9th, 2009

Remember that iPhone hack in the Netherlands, you can find the original report (here), well it looks like some hacker has now taken advantage of the same hacking idea and hacked jailbroken iPhone handsets down under in Aussie land.

This time round according to Cnet, it’s a worm known as “ikee” which replaces the iPhone wallpaper with an image of Rick Astley, a one time British pop singer, and comes with the message “ikee is never gonna give you up,” and word is it is quite difficult to remove.

The worm uses the SSH password hack, same as before, and according to Sophos, a security firm, this is the first iPhone worm and apparently only targets jailbroken iPhone handsets.
