100 Million Plus 3G Subs for China Mobile by 2011

Word from the Secretary General of the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance, Yang Hua, during the 2009 Sino-Japan TD-CDMA Collaboration Conference is that China Mobile 3G network subscribers are expected to surpass the 100 million mark with 2 years reports cellular-news.

Apparently China’s ministry of Industry and Information Technology figures show that since the trial operation started back on the 1st of April 2008, users of TD-CDMA have exceeded a figure of 1.2 million.

The second phase rollout of TD-CDMA has now been completed and has been delivered to 38 cities and the third phase of construction is continuing to make the service available to 238 cities by the end of the year.

Currently the only TD-CDMA operator in China is China Mobile and it is expected that China Mobile will fork out some 8.6 billion dollars in the infrastructure during 2009.
