HTC HD2 can do 802.11 Draft-n?

Under: Mobile Phones
Date: November 24th, 2009

Apparently according to an article over on engadget, the new HTC HD2 smartphone can do 802.11 Draft-n, apparently you can’t find a single phone in your carries’ store that can do it, but Draft 802.11n can be enabled.

The guys get their info on the HTC HD2 supporting Draft 802.11n via the xda-developers forum where it has apparently come to light that draft-n support is buried in the Windows Mobile 6.5 HTC HD2 and it is said that it was turned off in the shipping firmware for some unknown reason.

Quick spec reminder…GSM 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 900/2100, 4.3 inch touch screen, 802.11b/g WiFi, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, FM radio with RDS, A-GPS, microSD expansion and 3.5mm jack.

Word is if you want draft-n enabled, then the xda guys have the required registry hack at hand, so maybe if you are using the HTC HD2 in the states without any 3G this may be just right for you.
