Apple should allow iPhone to Verizon to thwart Nexus One

With the possibility of the new Google Nexus One handset going to T-Mobile over in the states, should Verizon Wireless now be working on Apple to allow them to offer the iPhone as a competitor to the Nexus One? That’s a big question.

The talk of Verizon gaining the iPhone has gone on for quite some time now and although nothing is definite there is always a possibility. But Verizon and Apple simply can’t afford to drag their heels over a Verizon iPhone any longer.

Android popularity is growing at an immense rate, over the last couple of months Verizon has managed to grab most of the attention through the Motorola Droid which is of course another Android smartphone. But with the threat of the Nexus One looming all attention on Droid has virtually vanished.

Google’s Nexus One is poised to storm the mobile phone arena, take on Verizon’s Droid and possibly the iconic iPhone. Verizon doesn’t have a new handset to battle the Nexus One for popularity, so maybe, just maybe it’s time for Verizon and Apple to get serious on allowing the iPhone to the Verizon network, after all, such a move would be beneficial to both Apple and Verizon, and once done could well thwart the Nexus One.

I would be thrilled if Verizon and Apple banded together to allow Verizon customers, such as myself, the ability to own an iPhone. Most people today use iPods and their success is indisputable. With AT&T losing new iPhone customers due to the fact that most of them already have one, why not expand the market to highly interested Verizon customers as well? The result can only be a positive one.

Why has Apple even stayed with such an inferior cell phone company have they seen the 3gmaps its all true. Cnnot wait for them to open there eyes and get this done. Most of us who are die hard Verizon customers wouldn’t even think to go to ATT ,but the Iphone grows more tempting and Verizon seems to refuse to engage apple.MAKE THIS HAPPEN VERIZON AND APPLE FOR THE GOOD OF BOTH OF YOUR BRANDS.

I can not believe this hasn’t happened already. Has a mac user all my life and a loyal verizon constumer I would in a heart beat go out and get the iphone is Verizon and Apple could get their act together and make a deal already. The talk about how Apple fixes their own product and Verizon doesn’t agree with that because they too like to ensure that they will be able to fix the phones they sell is foolish. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a phone that keeps loyal customers happy, brings in a ton of new customers, yet enables the company to not be required to fix them? I mean to me that sounds really great. A great service provider and a great machine, I think it is a match made in heaven! Get going Verizon and Apple!!!!!!!!!

The author does not seem to know why the iPhone is not on Verizon.

It’s not about Apple “allowing” the iPhone to be sold with VZW. In fact – Apple first went to Verizon before AT&T. VZW did not want the iPhone on its network because Apple wanted to have an overwhelming amount of control over the device functionality – which big red was not happy with. VZW is also notorious for blocking functionality on their handsets.

If I had to bet, I would say that Apple really wants VZW to cave and pick up the iPhone, since AT&T wireless’ customer satisfaction has been on the steady decline since the mid 2000’s. Apple isn’t dumb, and they know that Verizon has a nice solid market-share.

Why do you think AT&T has such a stranglehold on the iPhone? They really don’t have much else to offer their customers, the network blows. 3G on AT&T is rare, and not fast at all. Coverage is a joke, and is no comparison to Verizon.

I had them for a little less than a year and had to con my way out of the contract – it was that bad. We were dropping calls every five minutes or so, even in areas with full coverage (3+ bars). It was like that everywhere I went. Plus, call quality was a nightmare – cutting in and out, fuzzies. I even tried three different phones!.

Count me in! I have Verizon now and I am waiting for the iphone. There is no way I could switch to AT&T – they have no coverage in my area. I am hoping to hear something soon if not I may have to choose to go with the Droid. I have to agree Apple isn’t stupid they want their phone on a shoddy network.
