The Google gears are beginning to churn as expected, as Google have announced an Android press conference slated for the 5th of January 2010 at Mountain View reports an article over on engadget.

The announcement states that after the launch of the first Android device Google has seen how a powerful open platform can spur mobile product innovation, and that is just the beginning of what is possible.

No doubt most of the important press will attend as it is expected that Google will announce the latest Android smartphone, the Google Nexus One.

And no doubt the timing of such an event has been planned to draw away some of the thunder from CES 2010 and make sure most eyes remain firmly with the Nexus One.
