Vodafone wants Googles Nexus One and Apple iPhone not Sonys Xperia X2

Vodafone have abandoned the idea of exclusively offering Sony Ericsson’s flagship Xperia X2 in a move which has been driven by the operator’s new focus on Google’s Nexus One and of course Apple’s iPhone.

The business like Xperia X2 had been scheduled for release last year and was then delayed unti later this month, Vodafone have now removed the Xperia X2 from it’s coming soon section of it’s website.

This little development just emphasises Vodafone’s commitment to handsets that offer larger numbers of applications for them as with the iPhone there is 120,000 and also Google’s Android is growing very fast with 20,000 currently on offer.

Vodafone issued as statement which said that Vodafone will not be ranging the Sony Ericsson X2, the delivery date of the device with Windows 6.5 slipped pre Christmas dues to a series of technical issues and we have taken the decision not to go ahead with the launch as it no longer fits with our planned portfolio.
