Future devices from Apple could have PowerVR SGX545 mobile GPU

Under: Apple iPhone
Date: January 12th, 2010

The new mobile GPU will add full support for OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL 1.0. This real world performance is said to be able to deliver 40 million polygons per second at 200MHz.

It is also capable of producing content on screen with a very high definition resolution and gives frame rate for rendered 3D content. Tony King-Smith Vice president of making with imagination said that combining many years of experience in the embedded mobile and PC based DirectX graphic worlds, PowerVR SGX 545 takes the possibilities of handheld graphics to a new level.

This is a very compelling solution for application processor SoC designers who are targeting the next generation of netbook and MID mobile products which demand great graphics abilities.

Features include DirectX10.1 API support, enhanced support for DirectX10, DirectX10 Data assembler support, render target resource array support, plus lots more. To find out more about the features visit appleinsider.com
