Nokia Symbian v3 Release: Skips v2 but has multi-touch functions

It has been reported that Nokia intend on speeding up the development of the Symbian platform by leaping over version 2 I order to offer version 3 which features multi touch functions quarter 3 of 2010.

Then either in late 2010 or early 2011 version 4 will be available. Version 4 of Symbian is expected to be based on the Qt cross platform application which is developed by Trolltech, and was acquired by Nokia back in June 2008.

Nokia will continue to offer Maemo based mobile devices, Symbian S60 based smartphones and well as Symbian S40 based feature phones prices are said to be more competitive in 2010.
