New iPhone 4G 2010: Specs, Release Date, Verizon and more

So the next big thing with Apple should be the iPhone 4G 2010 , everyone is expecting it to happen all that really remains is basically the when and what will iPhone 4G 2010 bring to the game. We have seen numerous unconfirmed rumours on when iPhone 4G 2010 will surface and what it will pack.

The latest of said rumours is that iPhone 4G 2010 will bring with it several features seen on the Apple iPad such as a larger display, an OLED display, better processor, better WiFi, and maybe even video conferencing.

Previous iPhone 4G 2010 rumours hit on a removable battery which no doubt would please the iPhone masses. Lately we’ve even seen the iPhone 4G 2010 codename being outed as the N89, and that Pegatron has now joined Apple as a partner.

The much debated iPhone 4G 2010 release date caused much excitement not too long ago when it was rumoured the next generation iPhone could be released as soon as April, then it was May, but really it will probably be Apple’s more traditional iPhone release date of mid summer.

Then of course there is Verizon Wireless; it was rumoured that Apple would also announce a CDMA iPhone for Verizon when it announced their iPad, but alas again the rumours where wrong. Verizon wireless has already stated they have beefed up their network to cope with additional iPhone traffic which leads one to believe that they too believe they will eventually gain the iPhone, perhaps iPhone 4G 2010.

I have no doubt that the iPhone will eventually come to the Big Red, it’s really just a matter of time, and would be good business for both Verizon and Apple and also bring the iPhone to a great more many people.

Of course there was the rumour of AT&T losing exclusivity over the iPhone, well not really a rumour , more of a fact but it was rumoured AT&T would lose exclusivity when Apple announcing the iPad. But it didn’t happen and AT&T gets the iPad, so maybe although iPhone exclusivity ends for AT&T it doesn’t mean they wont offer the iPhone 4G 2010 does it.

We’ve even seen what is reportedly an image of the iPhone 4G 2010 albeit the image being so blurred it could well be something else, but then it all adds to the hype and rumour mill of iPhone 4G 2010 expectation.

Rest assured even with still a few months to go before iPhone 4G 2010 is expected the rumour mill will continue to churn and spit out much more speculation over the next generation iPhone, some may turn out true, other not, but it does make interesting reading, and whatever the speculation we will continue to bring it to you.

From everything that I have read it looks like Amy is right and Verizon won’t get the iPhone this year and I can guarantee you that even though AT&T will be getting an iPhone this year it will not be the “iPhone 4G,” because they will not have LTE (4G) this year. While on that note why call it the “iPhone 4G?” Because 4 is the number after 3? Because the 3 in 3G stands for third generation of technology and only a hand full of providers worldwide will be offering 4G this year and other than Verizon only Metro PC and US Cellular have 4G plans this year in the U.S. So the majority of providers, such as AT&T would not be able to use a 4G phone in 2010.

  2. No Apples says:

T Mobile has very little 3G. T Mobile doesn’t have 4G. We talk about 4G, where are the 4G phones? There are none because 4G will not be available to consumers this year. Has anyone noticed Apple running that ad “Can your phone and your network do that” often. Those are Apple ads not ATT.

  3. Danny says:

4G isn’t even something that is capable on networks in the US at this point. I mean, for crying out loud, 3G is still pretty much in it’s infancy, but is obviously growing. AT&T is still pretty slow to the game when it comes to 3G coverage, but reports indicate that their speeds tend to be faster with smartphones. Video conferencing on the next iphone? That would be a stretch. As awesome as it would be, would AT&T’s network be able to handle it, especially considering some areas are barely handling what’s available now?

If you want to look at fast phone networks, check out Japan. Our version of 3G hit their networks nearly a decade ago. Most phones over there now can already do video conferencing, but Japan is a bit ahead of the pack when it comes to cell phone technology. As for true “4G,” though, nah, not yet.

    1. Vito says:

Sprints 4g is actually 3.2g, sprint is retarded. They have less traffic thru their towers which is why it is faster. Tmobile is already ready for 4g they are releasing it with a new wireless card for laptops

  4. Yourareallwrong says:

You people are wrong…verizon is getting the Iphone. I work for verizon dont listen to that amy chick about At&T yes they will still carry it but they will no longer be the only company carring the Iphone. So there you have it.

  5. other_contry says:

hello to all, i have an 3GS yes looking for new “4G” i don’t think apple will namethe phone iphone 4G! by the way i am not staying US! in my country we only have max3.5G network and by the way how many country have 4G network! apple will not only his phone in the US only they will think of other countrys

  6. other_contry says:

next; verizon or AT&T’s which company carring the iphone is no so important! the thing is what G is that what phone is that. not the company carring the iphone

  7. Verizon WILL NOT be selling any iPhones. Apple announced that AT&T will be the exclusive carrier to provide 3G wireless service plans for the iPad. Much like iTunes being the only place to buy music and movies for Apple devices, AT&T will be the only place for US consumers to purchase service plans for iPhones and the soon to be released iPad. Apple has too much invested in AT&T to turn around and give its business to the one competitor who has been trying to convince consumers that their wanna be smartphones will do the same thing as an iPhone.
Apple is brillant! All the things most of us complain about, such as…no removable battery…no removable memory card…and so on…are the very things that make Apple so genius. Not only do they get us to buy their phones, but they makes us buy all the media we store on there as well. Every aspect of Apple’s operations are so far ahead of any of its competitors. Look at iTunes. Over 10 billion songs sold! When it comes to music, videos, and apps no other place can come close to the selection. Mp3 players would not be what they are today, had it not been for the iPod. Cellphones have been revolutionized because of the iPhone. Soon, the iPad will be sweeping across the nation and Apple will have another product that all the other companies will be trying to copy. Apple is leading the way and will be for many years to come.

    1. AntLo says:

This Man is right…. Apple has raised the Bar and teaming up with the Largest Wireless Provider in the Western Hemisphere (AT&T) they will be the front runner for years to come.. Think of ATT & Apple as Lance Armstrong and how he controled cycling for 7 years. That is what they are doing!! Tho Verison may get the Iphone someday, it won't be anytime soon. The Verison network is not built to support the Traffic and Bandwidth that the Iphone demands. Yes the IPhone can work on other networks (T-moble, Verison maybe even Sprirt) but the upload and download speed will not match what ATT can do. An Apple will NOT Jeopardize their most prized item being the IPHONE to add more customers. They aren't that hasty, at least not yet. ATT is doing a marvelous job of catering to the demands Apple and the Iphone are demanding.

    2. AntLo says:

And as far as the IPad, tho it isn't being considered a laptop NOW. it will become the new platform of what a netbook/mini laptop should be. Easy Access to the Web with some HD storage for temp files, like pics, music, videos and busniess-on-run. You will start to see these mini apps that the itouch/iphone run coming to home laptops / desktops to increase preformance on it.. Just a quick way to get to your bank statement or check a movie time.

    1. erik smith says:

Sprint's "4g" is actually wimax not an actual wireless standard. think of it as wifi on steroids not as a true mobile network, let alone 4g. The actual agreed upon LTE standard that is called 4G (which is currently running in parts of the UK and Asia) is up to ten times faster then what sprint refers to as "4g" (their wimax network they share with clear who is co-owner).

  8. Joel says:

They call it 4iPhone 4G because It’s the 4th generation of the iPhone.

All of the other iPods are referred to by their generation except for the iPhone, which was sort of screwed up by the name 3G referring to the network.

    1st Generation – iPhone
    2nd Generation – iPhone 3G
    3rd Generation – iPhone 3GS
    4th Generation – “iPhone 4G 2010”

  9. Adam says:

your seriously dumb apple announced that AT&T would have exclusive rights to the iPad not the iphone their is a difference. Im not saying verizon will have the iphone this year but it would be a smart business move to put it on a company that you can actually hold a call on much less find 3G coverage. O and also tymm AT&T has nothing other than the iphone if not for apple they would have crashed and burned by 08. O and check the sells those people that sell “wanna be smartphones” sell more phones and make more money that AT&T even with the iPhone so get your facts straight and actually think before you speak

    1. austin says:

Of course they sale more the phones are cheaper iphoes are for the elite..Verizon is straight u talking smack about apple so why would the give them there phone would you? And verizon and android media are contracted so where would apple come into? and how would that be smart busniess wise?

  10. iHate iJerks says:

tymm: “Apple is brillant! All the things most of us complain about, such as…no removable battery…no removable memory card…and so on…are the very things that make Apple so genius. Not only do they get us to buy their phones, but they makes us buy all the media we store on there as well.”

    Hey tymm,

Do you actually believe that Apple’s intentional limitations are an advantage? The reason I can’t stand Apple-anything is that they are control freaks, restricting most 3rd-party development and end-user options. Screw Apple.

  11. joey mak says:

    UK dude here.

I went into 02 today to talk about an upgrade and asked when the next iphone will be relased (so i dont sign up for anything ridicilous_. i opted for the rolling contract as he has been told that apple will be releasing the next gen within the next 6 months .

    enjoy

  12. QUOTE:
    1st Generation – iPhone
    2nd Generation – iPhone 3G
    3rd Generation – iPhone 3GS
    4th Generation – “iPhone 4G 2010″
    Joel: You are perfectly wrong.
    /QUOTE:

Joel: You are perfectly wrong. In fact, NONE of the previous iphones referred to their generation. The first one was just a phone; the second was a phone with a network attached; the third was a phone with a modified network attached; the 4th will probably some combination of phone, network and/or feature. Since 4G doesn’t exist in the iphone universe, I’d predict something like “iphone 3Gx”

    1. austin says:

your right all apple is doing is busting 3g coverage which it can do because its a GSM carrier sprint and verizon have to go "4g" because they cant just upgrade there G internally. the new phone ,may be called 3g something

  13. Anita says:

Does anyone know when will Verizon have th iphone available??? Today I had a technician from Verizon at my house and he said by the end of this year Verizon will have them???? Can anyone confirm it???

    1. i think tymm was right. once again…apple leads and everyone else follows. everytime i turn on the tv…some other company is advertising their knock off of the iPad.

  14. Verizon Sucks says:

    Hi,

I see that everybody is arguing about apple and service providers, but look at it from other perspective. Since Apple works with ATT for so long, they probably have plans together about growth of the iphone users population. SO NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK, there is no evidence of iPhone going in different hands than ATT. Considering no problems between ATT and APPLE for past couple years and iPad going to ATT also, i would assume that APPLE is happy doing business with ATT.

So summarizing all other comments, i would say that APPLE is no more control freak as is MICROSOFT , but APPLE actually is on time, and is aiming for normal costumers with the services they provide, not like MICROSOFT just businesses and other GEAKY and NERDY branches of technological development in the world.

More less, think what you want, but Verizon Sucks.

  15. Matt says:

Your taking the meaning of 4G wrong, it’s not stating that the next iPhone will be connected to a 4G network, it’s merely the most likely name as it will be the fourth generation hints 4G.

  16. DLJSM says:

For those coming angrily at Tymme for saying that Apple is a genius, he’s right! I don’t like being bottled up no more than the next man/woman. But, look at it like this…

Android allows open developement of it’s applications and forgive me for saying this but, 95% of them suck!

Windows Mobile apps are too expensive and are very glitchy. I should know, I have the US version of the HD2. Great phone but, it’s still Windows.

Most average consumers aren’t into “Rooting” or “Jailbreaking”. Apples apps are screened and given a red or green light. To me, that’s a stand on quality and not quantity.

I must have purchased about a good $100 worth of apps for my ipod touch. They all look great! The $10 I spent on my old Cliq, other than the NES/Genesis Emulator and Zoom Camera the others aren’t worth it.

You can talk about Apples strong hold on the game all you want but, it makes for a great phone and entertainment device.
The service of calling may be in question though.

The only reason most hate Apple is because they screen apps and don’t have open source. I Jailbroke my ipod touch and then put it right back because the people that do apps for hobby don’t keep up on the apps and are novice at best in their creations.

Running one app at a time allows for smoother gaming and applications.

I don’t like the non removable battery and no insurance. Those are more on the annoyance side than anything.

No company will get everything right. But, you have to admit that Apple is doing a good job at delivering. I won’t own an iphone because AT&T are too expensive. I work for T-Mobile (wink). Every company has spotty service some in different places than others. It’s a an individual experience. Everyone wants everybody to agree with them. You like Android, she likes Windows, I like Apple…who gives a hell.

I like Apple for what I like them for, and being a cell carrier employee and being with other cell companies and having a multitude of cells phones I can say this. They are the most solid in phone creation. Carriers are a different story.

Bottom line, it’s between the N900, HD2 or N1 because I’m with T-Mobile. If AT&T drops their prices, I’d hit em’ up for an iphone tomorrow. Go with who you think is the best. The best for you and F* everyone else’s opinion!

  17. Just so you guys know, “4G” is NOT, I repeat *NOT* a reference to iPhone generation. The first iPhone was a 2G cell phone, meaning it supported data networking on the cellular networks in addition to being a phone, but only using the slow 2G wireless telecom standards. Hence, it is often appropriate to call the first-generation iPhone an “iPhone 2G”, even though it was never branded as such.

Similarly, “4G” is a generation reference but it refers to the generation of the data networks provided by the wireless telecoms.

Currently, the only wireless network company that offers 4G in the United States of America on a broad scale is Sprint, and that’s only available in some cities. However, come this mid-year, that could change by then, in which case Apple just might be able to tie the iPhone in with the 4G networks.

Also, 4G does not necessarily mean LTE, although LTE is the one that matters most. There are actually several 4G telecom data networking specifications and technologies, such as UMB, LTEA, Mobile-WiMax, e-UTRA, et al.

  18. IPhone User says:

Honestly .. I’ve been a customer of Cingular/AT&T consistently for the last 10 years.
I really have no complaints about the service. I have had good phones and bad phones and usually pick up a two year contract. No biggie .. right ..? Well .. since AT&T has rolled in with their “new policies” .. things have changed drastically. If you pay for the entire phone upfront and get the nationwide plan with unlimited texting, internet, mms, etc. … and make your payments on time … you will be denied an upgrade because you will not be making AT&T any money. If you are not late on any payments, you will be labeled as ineligible. Usually, if you have your phone for 16 months … you used to be eligible for the next upgrade .. this has been in effect since the days of PacBell. No longer. If Verizon does, indeed, get the new iphone upgrade .. I will be the first in line to jump ship unless AT&T gets with the program and stops looking at how to shortchange their customers to make an extra few bucks.

  19. Keith says:

what really matters is that everyone who wants and iphone will be able to get one in the us just think why would apple want to sell 3 million phones a quarter when they can sell 30 million a quarter and in most areas at&t service does not work and verizon does…food for thought…..

  20. iPhone user says:

I am an at&t employee and we dont even know when the new iPhone will be released sofor all you clowns out there telling people when it is coming out your lost. Verizon will not get the iPhone any time soon because of the network they use, once all the carriers converge to the 4G network, whenever that is, then you may see different carriers selling the iPhone, until then dont count on it.

  21. iHope says:

Of course, my hope is that Verizon will get the iPhone. The main issue for Apple users is that only the iPhone synchs natively with the Apple computers. We have tried many 3rd party interpreters for many phones and none of them work to synch non-Apple phones with Apple computers reliably. That is the main reason why millions of Apple users want the iPhone. The next problem is that ATT has the worst coverage I have ever seen. Att admits they have poor coverage and thus poor reception/sound quality. ATT appears to be doing little about it. Further, I spoke with a Verizon manager recently and he did tell me that Apple is building a 4G phone for them. I hope he was not just blowing smoke.

From a business standpoint, it makes no sense to NOT expand iPhone access to other carriers as other phone manufacturers have done.

Hope it will be this year.

  22. foodforthough says:

    @lausd sucks:
yes, sprint was first with 4G, but Verizon and AT&T are doing it right. Verizon was doing LTE testing last year, achieving speeds well over 200Mb/s. While this was on highly restricted networks with no external access, they are still expecting speeds of around 50Mb/s. I am not now nor have i been a customer of Sprint, but i haven’t heard of speeds near that.

That being said, Apple’s contract with AT&T dealing with the iPhone is nearly (if not already) up. Verizon’s 4G networks are very close to being rolled out publicly. All of you who have been keeping up with Verizon’s LTE preparation know that they purchased exclusive rights to the lower end of the radio wave frequencies in the spectrum. Don’t know what this means? EXCEPTIONAL coverage. Their plan is to cover the ENTIRE US with 4G coverage (while somewhat slower in areas, though still having the access).

What this says to me, is that, while Apple will probably not release an iPhone compatible with the CDMA networks, i forsee no problems with them jumping on the LTE train. All A-board!

(also, has anyone on here used a blackberry bold 2 on AT&T’s networks, and went into 3g (lower case) as opposed to 3G? it was slower than in regular 3G, though i think faster than regular EDGE. i for one (with having no official understanding of 3g (again, lower case) ) am personally naming this 3g as: 3-gay, as opposed to 3-Great…)

  23. tymm^ says:

    @Adam:
My point was…that since Apple just annoucned that AT&T would be the exclusive carrier to provide 3G wireless service plans for the iPad…why would they turn to another company to provide service for the iPhone? It seems to me that Apple is happy with AT&T at this time. If they had announced that another company (such as Verizon) would be the provider for the new iPad…then it would be safe to say that the next iPhones would also be made available by the same carrier.

  24. tymm^ says:

    @iHate iJerks:

You asked, “Do you actually believe that Apple’s intentional limitations are an advantage?”.
    For the consumer: No
For Apple as a company: Absolutely

You also went on to say…”The reason I can’t stand Apple-anything is that they are control freaks, restricting most 3rd-party development and end-user options”.

My response to this…that is actually why they make millions…because they continue to retain control of everything they do. It isn’t popular with the consumers, but the stockholders love it.

  25. Legion says:

I’d be suspicious of anything tymm says. First off all he said that iTunes is the only place to buy music for Apple devices. That is absurd. You cab buy your music from anywhere just like you can add your own CDs to it. As a matter of fact, I use gomusicnow.com for my music songs are 9 – 15 cents per song, that’s right, 9 – 15 CENTS per song with a 10% discount if you buy a whole album. You load the songs into a music folder and then add them to your iTunes with a choice in the first dropdown window in iTunes. Once in there I convert them to AAC format (just for consistency) then I delete the temporary folder. There is also software out there that rips DVD movies and converts it to the format that iPhones and iPod touch use. Yes, you can rent a film from blockbuster or whatever and then copy it to your device.

  26. I work for Apple Research & Design. All I will say is the Iphone 4G will be released June 1st. I however will not specify which carrier(s) will have contracts with Apple. Please be patient. We are working hard to make this the best Iphone yet. Thank you for all your support.

  27. Justin Nguyen says:

iPhone should not be coming to verizon, 1st of all, I know verizon said they have the best coverage. but my LG dare keep losin network. not only my Dare, but most of ppl i know who uses verizon also have that problems. 2nd, verizon locks their phone to their service so if ur done with verizon, ur phone is dead. u can’t sell it for a higher price. my cousin who’s vietnamese sold like 3 3gs in vietnam for 3 times the price he bought in att which is 200. but if the iphone is with verizon, the most u can get out of it is 150 bucks since there’s already new one in the verizon store, why would u pay more for a used one. AGAIN, VERIZON SUCKS. my family around like 16 ppl I think? not sure didn’t count when i type this, we’ve all switch from verizon to att… even my granddad, who used to be IN LOVE with verizon and their phone. he had to switch to att.

  28. Juan says:

All of you are wrong, the new I phone 4g ain’t coming out for verizon or AT&T.steve job said that they ain’t to happy with the both carrier and that now the new I phone 4g is coming out for metro pcs.

  29. Halosrant says:

Ok Im not a very tech savvy individual nor am I a business guru, but some of you have very misguided views on this topic.
    1. Apple and AT&T will not last. So the iphone/ ipad etc, will be coming to multiple carriers within the next year or so once the contract is up this summer.
    2. AT&T is a genius for what they are doing with the ipads release date. By bringing it out in April, they have about 3 months for a big buy in on ATTs network for the ipad. So if you lock in to a data plan contract on ATT, they will get their money if you stay or go. But common sense also says that if Apple opens the iphone to all carriers, then the ipad whould also be able to be used on the other networks as well.
    3. I’ve had verizon for over 6 yrs now. Veryy little issues with them. But like any phone service, reception and customer service is key. If recetion sucks in your area then your going to hate the service provider. So you have two options, new service provider or move. Pretty cut and dry there. Custumer service issues I look at it like this, if you go to Wal-mart or Target and the custumer service is horrible, you ask for the manager etc to get the issue resolved. If this type of ordeal happens everytime you go there either they suck or you do. If you suck oh well. If they suck, then go through the process again or just dont shop there. If you have to shop there, then suck it up cupcake.
    4. As I write this I am thinking, no one cares about your opinion. Well that is probably very true but I still think people are idiots for thinking that apple wil not switch to multiple carriers in the near future. Apple had issues back in the 80s and 90s for solo minded thinking. Hopefully they will not repeat the same mistake twice.
    Deuces!

  30. John says:

It is confirmed news people that Verizon Wireless will be getting the IPhone 4G so really lets wait till June 1st and get all those Att customers on America’s Most Reliable Network!!!…I have Verizon Wireless and my phones works everywhere in the tunnel,in basements and even in the subways,so lets be patient and enjoy the 4 G when it comes.

  31. Interesting... says:

There have been some interesting points made for both AT&T and Verizon. What it comes down to is you either love one and hate the other. Depending on where you live and where you travel that can make the difference between which carrier to choose. I personally prefer Verizon because I never drop calls or have any issues. I have friends and family members that have AT&T and most don’t care for them, but won’t switch because of the iphone. There are a few that love them. There is no sense if bickering and fighting over something so trivial! I would love to have the iphone on the Verizon network, it would be a smart move for Apple. But not just to Verizon but to T-Mobile and Sprint as well. If this ends up not being the case and AT&T is still the sole carrier then life goes on. Why don’t we relax, enjoy what we have now and see what the next couple of months brings us. None of us really know, we are only speculating. It would be great for them to release it to other carriers, but again, if they don’t, life will still go on. Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, but there is no sense in being rude or degrading about it.

  32. Fat00key says:

One big question for me is: “Will any other carrier that may get the Iphone, be able to talk and surf the web at the same time on the Iphone?” Less features is meaningless to me. I want the Iphone, but that capability also. I heard that Verizon will not ever do that with the Iphone.

  33. Matt says:

Listen, there is a lot of talk about iPhones now. Everyone here knows that Verizon will not get the iPhone this year. They might not even get it next year. The iPhone will not be called the iPhone 4G. 4G doesn’t exist in phones yet. Sprint has 4G broadband. That’s it. Most likely there will be a 5 MP camera. We all know that the iPhone will not have a webcam because phones in America do not have webcams. only LG phones in Europe have webcams. The iPhone already multitasks. AT&T already said it. “You can call and surf the web.” The iPhone can do that with all the apps, too. Now, the iPhone cannot have two apps on the same screen, because it is too small for it. The Dell Mini 5 possibly can do that. Apple may allow backgrounds in the screen, more menu pages, a larger hard drive, enhancement in some other features and maybe some new things that we never could even think about. I mean, we never thought about voice control, right? Finally it comes down to the name. We can call it the iPhone 4G, iPhone LTE, or even the iPhone 3G X. Whatever it comes down to, we will still have it be 4G ready due to the 2 Year Contract. A lot of news sites have said it’s going to be called the iPhone HD. It is very likely, but Apple has their ways of surprising us. We all know it will be released around the WWDC 2010 (June or July). I hope you can all think of what really will happen. So don’t get your hopes up if you see a “picture” with an iPhone that has a 5″ screen an 8.1 MP camera, a webcam and Mac OS 11. Get real, guys.

  34. Phil says:

I think I speak for many when I say that there are two phone users out there. Iphone owners, and those of us that want to be! I have been painfully staying with a blackberry (great phone but no apps, etc is frustrating). I was SO excited to get the Nexus One, and when they announced that Sprint would get it, I was mentally in line to buy one. Sprint is great coverage in my state, get 1400 minutes with unlimited everything for 2 phones for around $110 with a discount from work! I love Google, and was willing to deal with Google calander copying my outlook, etc. BUT THE TOUCHSCREEN ISSUES SCARED ME OFF! I am now waiting for the new IPhone!! Please Apple, offer it for Verizon or Sprint and I will buy an IMac to boot!!

  35. Adam Walker says:

I work for Apple and I can say is that Verizon will have the iphone by June 6th 2010. Please visit this web site verizon/iphone.com and you will see the truth. So for the haters out there…the iPhone is comming to Verizon!!!!

  38. TIMMY says:

MATT. Do you realize that the iPhone 3g/3gs has nothing to do with the 3g network? Want proof, just take a look at the latest iPod 3g – it stands for third generation. So with that established, if apple does call the new phone the 4g which stands to reason, it does not mean it is a 4g network phone rather the 4th generation iPhone. It also does not mean it will not be a 4g network phone either and it does also not mean that the phone will need a 4 g network to work. These things are usually backwards comparable. Just like N wifi will work fine on G wifi or g will work on n but only at g speeds.

  39. TIMMY says:

Matt. Google the term jailbreak before you claim what the iPhone does not have or what it can’t do. Fact is you can webcam with iPhone as well as milti task various apps simultaneously if you look into it!

  40. Louay says:

Alright… I have been watching and reading all of your speculations People:

1- Apple Inc. is very secretive about their products and we all know this.
Guys who say I work for Apple.. Either they wish they were working for apple or maybe just messing around so they stand out in this blog.

2- Iphone for ATT even if the contract is over apple will renew with them. Even for a new product such as Ipad …. At&t is the carrier.

3- apple might have version and that will be great for version and apple but at&t will go under for sure even if they still carry the iphone… me personally I am canceling my contract and going for version right away. (even if it will cost me 400$ cancellation fee).

4- we all assume, but we know we all will be very very surprised when Iphone come out this summer. And when? I am not sure and so are you people! BUT look for WWD 2010 and if u fined an accurate date know that Iphone will be out then.. no accurate date. Sleep on it… and be prepared for a good surprise from Apple Inc.

    5- finally:
    once upon a time .. no one gave a sh$$ ….

  41. SCRUFFYPOMPOM says:

I really couldn’t care less.. (no offence to anyone) about all the different points of view above.. it has made some interesting reading thats for sure!! All I really care about and want to know is… when the flipping 4g thingie-mi-jig iPhone is gonna be for sale in the UK? I want one, I want one now for the love of my giddy aunt please let it be soooooon! I don’t wanna fork out for an iPhone now if they’re gonna release a new version.. that’d just be plain daft and I’d really like to think that I’m not that daft… maybe just a wee bit but I think that might be allowed!!

  42. scooter says:

all you others that don’t know to much about networks and say 4G phones dont exist are WRONG!! Sprint is releasing the HTC EVO, the first 4G/Android device by June 1st (phonescoop.com)…all other carriers that switch to 4G are just hopping on the Sprint bandwagon.
I WOULD NOT BUY an iPhone from att if it were 4G…last time they upgraded their network it crashed! the iPhone is cool as h3ll but i cant wait to put up against the HTC EVO.

  43. David says:

I can say that IPHONE will not be coming to Verizon. They are having a gigantic successful with the DROID and it has outsold the IPHONE 3-1. The Android OS is awesome and it allows 3rd party apps to be place on the phone. The IPHONE limits 3rd party software because APPLE wants exclusive rights to its phone. They most likely will not agree to Verizons terms so at&t will keep its IPHONE and continue to lose its customer base. In fact Verizon now considers Sprint has its next biggest competitor since they resolve the coverage issue and exposed at&t non disclosure of its coverage. You can say you have the fastest 3G, but coverage is only in major metropolis’s. Rural areas are left in the dark.

  44. matthew saigon says:

from what i read from wsj news is that apple working on a new iphone that can run on CDMA which verizon is using and apple has added additional carriers in other countries. i think iphone should be open to all carriers and make those iphone lovers happy. for me, i’m getting tired of this iphone already, sure my latest one runs faster than the old one, but somehow i just don’t feel exciting about it anymore. i want a new phone, the one that make me feel the way i felt about the first iphone. can someone make me dream come true?

  45. Justin says:

Unfortunately I doubt Verizon will get to carry the iphone anytime soon. I’ve been waiting since the iphone came out but refuse to use AT&T even if you gave me an iphone. I love Apple & Verizon so I’ll probably just get an Android. Apple needs to wake up and stop alienating their customer base.

  46. carvensno says:

This is why i dont believe in rumors, no one has real hard data or verified info from ATT or Apple!! Just as anything else in the world gets release i just wait till it gets released or is announced from Apple or verifed source.

So everyone that keeps saying yes or no to verizon and all of the other crap being said. Opions are like A$$holes everyone has one!!!! LMAO

  47. Jeffery says:

Hey, to all you verizon hopefulls like me, verizon WILL be getting the iphone. How do I know this you may ask? I have a friend who has a friend who just did a commercial for the IPHONE for VERIZON. They are not announcing it just yet, reason being? What new phone just came out for verizon, I believe it’s called “DROID”. Verizon is not going to kill the market for DROID, especially with all the commercials and advertisements they invested in the droid. They are going to wait for the sales to drop for the droid then guess what comes in next? IPHONE! That is the reason why I have not bought a droid because of this fact. I am waiting for the iphone to come out, which will be released by Verizon 🙂

      1. Verizon Iphone fan:) says:

Naw viper your a fool and when we get the Iphone I want you to remember me laughing at you:) I will not be back on here to read your reply so HA!

  48. Masticator says:

Not to resurrect a dead cow, but the new iphone, due to be officially announced mid-summer and released sometime in the fall (as always) is being released with two versions. these will essentially be the same phone, one for AT&T (no surprise there) and one for a different network (yes, possibly, though not confirmed, for Verizon). it has also been leaked that another ipod touch is in the works, as well as another ipad ALREADY (could be held off, but it is already being drawn up) that will probably have a new firmware (4.0.0?) that will be on the new devices or available for purchase as 3.0.0 was when it was new. there is also a somewhat doubt-able (though not impossible) completely new device. While i am no psychic, i do know that Steve Jobbs (after accidentally creating a portable gaming device – and i say accidentally because yes, these devices were made to support games, many people get them FOR games and have bonuses) has thought of making a new console, such as you see the Wii, Xbox360, and PlayStation3. there is no confirmation of this, but i am definitely going to keep my eyes out for an Apple gaming console to be released within only a few short years or less.

Also, a Verizon rep (that i know on a personal level) told me that though it wasn't supposed to be known by the public, Verizon IS getting AN iphone this year.

also, it would make since for this new iphone (for Verizon anyways) to be called the iphone 4G, as Verizon is nearly ready to unleash it's LTE networks, which is their 4G. while this new iphone may not technically be "4G", it will probably do something like they did with wi-fi when the unofficial "Wireless N" first came around, and call it "Draft-4G". Basically, i mean 4G compatible, at the very least.

take this information as you wish. Ponder on it if you want, but don't drool too much – you are sitting at an electronic device at the moment, and i doubt you want to fry it. this information was not "discovered" by me, i am only acting as a leech right now. I found it via the internet, and i am spreading it as everyone else does.
    Peace-out.

  50. I hope the iPhone does come to Verizon,
Switching to Verizon will give Apple
    more money, popularity, greater reviews,
better service, more users. I've been wanting to get an
iPhone for YEARS but since we move around alot,
we need a service that will work almost everywhere hence Verizon

  51. sprint says:

Its coming to sprint as well iphone is going universal in terms of carriers. sprint should have iphone ""keeping fingers crossed for iphone 4g since SPRINT IS THE ONLY 4G NETWORK. more like hotspot for major cities but non the less 4G Coverage WHICH NO OTHER CARRIER HAS!"" from what ive heard sprint will have it by fall. and as for the ipad. wat a waste of technology. just an oversized itouch. get glasses so you can read the itouch better. same result hundreds of dollars cheaper

  52. iSteve says:

The new iPhone is expected to have double the pixels on the screen making it extra sharp and boasting brigher colors. It is also expected to have a High Def video camera and higher pixels for the still cam.

Common speculation amongst developers is that it will be called:
    iPhone HD.

I have the 4.0 software already (developer) and the multitasking is amazing. Everything about it is great!

  53. kady graham says:

my friend kathy wagner just told me to come get my htc incredible from verizon while i was at the store she hooked me up with the new iphone verizon has it everyone get yours today they are out now

  54. Verizon is going to buy out AT&T unless apple gets a phone service verizn gets the iPhone you get the best of both worlds the end..:::: this is coming from an AT&T customer!

  55. Verizon Blows says:

I say that Apple will stay with ATT for the fact that Verizon Sucks and likes to Rip people off and scam so many of their customers… you think that Apple want's that under their name. I dont think so!! So no, Verizon will not be getting the new iPhone. And i had heard that from the CEO of ATT himself.

  56. Too bad for you says:

Haha too many people get pissed that the Iphone will not be solely with their beloved AT&T anymore. Get over it. The Iphone is an amazing gadget and apple does and amazing job, but what will Luke Wilson be saying once Verizon steals all of AT&T's thunder? I'm willing to bet 90% of all iphone users are only with AT&T because of they have to be not because they love the network.

  57. Jason says:

Att's original contract for exclusivity was 5 years. Do the math (released June '07). Unless there have been violations to the contract, which surely could have happened by ATT network capacity being maxed out in NY, it will go the full five years. My guess is that Sprint will get it first, then right after Verizon, and that ATT will lose a year or so on their exclusivity rights.

  58. haha...all are dumb says:

lol wow people…seriously…YOU ALL can not claim anything if APPLE or AT&T or VERIZON has announced it…damn..lol just shut up!!! all you can do is wait…oh and by the way…if the next gen iphone comes out this year…it will be the SAME EFFING time that they released ALL their other iphones….common sense anyone?? O_O…just stop claiming oh this person will have it this year, or this provider will carry…YOU DONT KNOW!!!!!! why waste the time writing it…the only people that matter about the release date is APPLE and AT&T on THEIR WEBSITE!!! :D…

    Have a wonderful day 🙂

  59. Apple Executive says:

Verizon will get the i-phone 4G on September 18th 2010. AT&T will still be a seller of the i-phone product but will not be retrieving the i-phone 4G until they get a 4G network.

  60. Scott says:

Verizon does not have a data network that can support the traffic of a million iPhone users. I use Verizon and I think they are a pretty decent company but their backend hardware isn't up to snuff.

  61. AntLo says:

  63. kayleigh says:

when does the new iphone (2010) get released in uk?? im due a upgrade and have been searching but really want the new iphone…. hoping i dont have to wait much longer 🙁

  64. Iphone says:

I heard iphone was coming out in july for verizon, apparently im wrong, since everyone is saying it will come out in october and all that. I hope it comes out soon. Im just trying to figure out when it comes out so i can get it. jesus christ! 🙁

  65. I think everybody has gone nutty Apple all ways has problems with something to do with the iphone Go for the HTC Desire it is one of the best smart phones I have ever used and guess what it never goes wrong when you think about you cannot even get widgets on the iphone multi task so stop wasting your money and buy the HTC Desire you will love it!!
