Nokia new naming scheme and N8 Detailed

Back in 2009, Nokia made it known that their first mobile phone to sport a 12 megapixel camera would be the Nokia N87; well apparently that has now changed in as much as the 12 megapixel handset will now be known as the Nokia N8 according to an article on French website Tom’s Guide courtesy of unwired view.

Furthermore the website claims that the launch date for the Nokia N8 will be sometime in the first half of 2010 and the handset will be Nokia’s first smartphone to pack Symbian 3, a 3.5 inch capacitive touch screen, HD video recording, video on demand service via the Ovi Store, and an HDMI port.

Apparently the website also makes mention of a few more Nokia handsets set to debut in 2010 which are the Nokia C5 with a release date of June and price tag of €140; the Nokia C3 which is an S40 handset with a price tag of €48; and the Nokia C5-01 which is targeted at competing with BlackBerry smartphones.

There’s also word that Nokia will have a new naming scheme and drop the 4 digit names in favour of the C series low end, X series entertainment, E series business, N series high end, and S series limited edition and very high end.
