Apparently Sony has now released a brand new standalone Blu-ray player called the Sony BDP-S470, but according to an article over on hemagazine, the Sony BDP-S470 is no ordinary Blu-ray player as it will output 3D.

With the Sony BDP-S470 Player you’ll gain all the usual features such as Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video that includes Amazon on Demand and NetFlix, BD-Live, 1080p/24, and now packs the ability to use an iPhone or iPod Touch as a remote and includes production info and cover art on the iPhone touch screen.

The iPhone application you’ll require is called “BD Remote” for the iPhone and can be downloaded via the Apple iPhone iTunes App Store.

Apparently there will be a firmware update out this summer for the BDP-S470 to output 3D content and for playback of the 3D discs, the device even plays SACDs and commands a price tag of $200.
