Wider implications for phone makers using Google’s Android OS

The legal action being taken against HTC by Apple may well have wider implications than was first thought.

The case against HTC where Apple alleges infringement of 20 of its patents could well be the first of many according to Ian Fogg from Forrester research.

A lot of the named patents are in relation to operating system processes although Apple haven’t actually named Google. Strangely enough though Google have publicly showed that they are supporting HTC in the case.

A spokesperson for Google has said that they are not a party to the lawsuit, but they stand by their Android operating system and the partners who have helped in the development of it. It has been speculated by some that Apple are attacking Google by proxy by filing the case against HTC. For more details on this story head over to news.bbc.co.uk
