China Unicom intent on launching Android

China Unicom have announced their intention to launch Android phones and have stated that they have an open attitude on mobile operating systems.

The Chinese mobile carrier is all set to deliver mobiles powered by Google’s Android operating system, even though Google have themselves announced a delay in the launch of such devices. This delay is dues to a dispute with the Chinese Government.

Even though there is this dispute whereby Google put back plans to launch the Android device in China and also have also delayed Google applications on handsets in the Chinese market, it would seem that the Chinese phone makers are still interested in the Android Operating system.

According to Chang Xiaobing chief executive officer of China Unicom they acknowledge that Android is a mainstream mobile phone OS and will definitely use it on their mobile phone terminals. For more information on this story head over to softpedia.com
