Peak download speeds of 50Mbps for Verizon’s LTE

The mobile phone carrier Verizon as some would already know are getting prepared to roll out of its Long Term Evolution based 4G network and we have more information from the folks over at news.softpedia.com on this.

It had recently been announced that the trials it has been conducting in the US have shown that the data transfer speeds on the upcoming network can be expected to be around 40 to 50 megabits per second following those trials in Boston and Seattle.

If you compare this to the existing 3G networks that either Verizon Wireless or that that others operate at present the registered speeds are of a significant difference and much faster.

Verizon have also revealed that their engineers have reported that the average data rates on LTE were 5-12 Mbps on downlink, and of 2-5 Mbps on the uplink in real true world environments. On average Verizon Wireless is leveraging the 700MHz spectrum roll out in the United States.
