Selling Point of HTC EVO 4G Is Video Calling Says Sprint

Sprint made a big splash with the unveiling of the first Android WiMAX 4G smartphone, the Sprint HTC EVO 4G while at CTIA 2010 in Las Vegas, and apparently Sprint is looking to promote video calling as the EVO 4G’s selling point reports an article over on cbs news.

The Sprint HTC EVO 4G is the first smartphone capable of using the new Clear wireless network which is now live in 27 cities and offers faster data speeds although currently for laptops, Clear doesn’t actually work with smartphones yet, but that will soon chance.

Sprint is looking to capitalise on the EVO 4G’s front facing camera capabilities for video calls as the Clear WiMAX network is better for handling streaming video although email and web browsing wouldn’t run much faster than 3G and this is why Sprint is promoting the video calling aspect of the HTC EVO 4G.

The director of product marketing for Sprint, David Owens has said although the HTC EVO 4G lacks a video chat application, Sprint will help developers create video chat software.
