Skype Application for Verizon Available on Thursday

During CTIA 2010, Verizon Wireless announced that the users of 9 Verizon smartphones will be able to download and use the Skype Mobile application as of Thursday the 25th of March reports an article over on pcworld.

The Skype app will deliver to Verizon customers the ability to make free calls along with instant messages to other Skype users however there are some limitations.

To gain the Skype app, Verizon Android customers can download the app via the Android Market while existing Verizon BlackBerry customers will see the Skype icon appear on their screen as of Thursday and will be able to locate the Skype app in the download folder.

Verizon customers can also text Skype to 2255 once the Skype app is available and Verizon will forward an SMS with the download link or they can also fire up their smartphone and visit www.skype.com/go/mobile and download.

Apparently Verizon is working on making the Verizon Skype app compatible with other operating systems and the senior VP of digital media and marketing for Verizon, John Harrobin has said “We’ll prioritize where we’ll make the most bang for the buck.”
