Mobile Movie Subscription Service Bitbop Unveiled by Fox at CTIA 2010

During CTIA 2010 in Las Vegas, Fox Mobile Group unveiled a new Mobile Movie subscription service called Bitbop which delivers on demand movies and TV shows to mobile phones for a price of $9.99 per month reports an article on Yahoo Finance via Barrons.

The Bitbop Mobile Movie service is for use on the iPhone, BlackBerry smartphones and the Android platform and delivers to the subscriber content from Fox, Discovery, NBC Universal and more and can be accessed by your smartphone on 3G or WiFi.

According to Chris Hoerrenz, the chief marketing officer for Fox Mobile Group, “Bitbop is an on demand subscription-based service that delivers on the promise of making the smartphone an easy-to-use entertainment device for television programs and movies. We are able to give mobile audiences the wide range of content they want, when and where they want it, with all the customer friendly features they expect.”

FMG Exec VP of global products and chief architect of the Bitbop service, Joe Bilman, says he realised most people carry their device with them one hundred percent of the time and don’t have much idea what they can do with them, so we created Bitbop for consumers who thought smartphones where only just for web access and email.
