RIM Conference Call, Verizon iPhone, Quarterly Earnings, Fiscal 2011 Targets

It’s that time of year when BlackBerry maker Research In Motion is due to announce their quarterly earnings along with their projection of fiscal 2011 targets. Another subject which make be discussed it what effect if any the launch of the Verizon iPhone will have on the future of BlackBerry reports an article over on product-reviews

Word has it RIM will hold a conference call today at 5pm EDT and according to zdnet, they expect Research In Motion to juggle a fine balancing act with their targets.

Sanjiv Wadhwani, an analyst for Stifel Nicolaus has commented on the matter and has suggested that Research In Motion does require a new product cycle as rival smartphone makers such as Samsung, LG and Nokia offer new devices every month.

However this is a tack RIM may have to take if they want to continue competing against Apple and the iPhone, and as a Verizon iPhone would increase Apple’s smartphone market share, the BlackBerry maker needs to do something to keep up its game.
