Under: BlackBerry, Phone Software
Date: March 31st, 2010

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has now acquired Viigo, which is a top of the range RSS reader for Blackberry smartphones, and RIM acquired them for an undisclosed amount reports an article over on appscout.

Viigo stated in a statement that they are planning to continue delivering real time content to BlackBerry smartphones and the existing Viigo for BlackBerry application will still be available for download from BlackBerry App World.

Viigo for BlackBerry provides stocks, sports, weather, news and other content is one unified SRSS based interface and is known for running faster on older handsets and features numerous customisation options along with being able to import Google Reader data.

So now that Research In Motion has shelled out an unmentionable amount of cash for Viigo maybe we’ll see newer update of Viigo for BlackBerry in the not too distant future.
