Verizon Nexus One: Exclusive quote says no April release announcement

Yesterday we reported that the new Verizon Nexus One phone could get its announcement today, and it was said that the Journey begins on Monday (Today).

Will there be an announcement today mentioning the Nexus One 12th April release date, in yesterdays report we said that an email was sent out to Verizon employees stating the Journey begins on Monday.

What our readers have said: One readers said that anything new to Verizon that mentions exclusive will obviously not be the nexus one. Look up exclusive in the dictionary.

Another reader quoted: Well I have to say with the word “exclusively” that puts the Nexus One off of the list. It is not exclusive to Verizon Wireless.

And yet another phonesreview.co.uk reader said: Just thought I would state something obvious here, the pic of the e-mail says “Exclusively on America’s Largest and Most Reliable 3G Network” – Is the Nexus One offered exclusively on Verizon? No. The crap they are talking about is the new Microsoft line of phones, which is supposed to be exclusively on Verizon’s network. Sorry everyone, but Verizon had their chance at CTIA, and completely blew it.

What are your thoughts on the new Verizon Nexus One release are our readers’ comments right?

Not necessarily. It could just mean that that is something exclusive on Verizon's version of the Nexus (such as a keyboard) that the other carriers don't have.

    1. moe says:

I don't think there has been enough time to design a keyboard into the N1 — and why would they still call it the N1 if it had a keyboard? At that point, it would be a different phone.

    2. Zack says:

The first Droid phone that came out was the G1, which had what is still the best keyboard to date, which is a T Mobile phone.

Besides if you look at the picture at the bottom of the email, it looks very animal-like, not unlike a turtle? Microsoft Turtle perhaps?

Due to the lack of information, postponements, and the general leaving possible consumers for the nexus one in the dark I have decided to not even buy the nexus flunk. The phone has been out for far too long on other carriers for verizon or google not to have even commented on the phone besides spring 2010. I am switching carriers and not even thinking about the N1. Google, Verizon, you fail.

I would think Verizon would at least let us know when and if the Nexus one or Incredible will come out??
So we could make a decision on what to buy or wait for,, I use to praise Verizon to my friends but that day is over!

    1. moe says:

If they did that, then people wouldn't buy up Verizon's inventory of Bberries, Droids, and Palm phones. The won't tell us ahead of time (or at least not much ahead of time) so they can sell off inventory.

  4. Zack says:

It's not just the word exclusive, but unique as well. There's not much unique about even the Incredible, which is almost a mirror of the Nexus One except 3 or 4 stats.

  5. Nic says:

Why do people blame Verizon for not releasing the Nexus one? It's not Verizon's fault, it's Google. Google owns the phone, it will only be sold by them through their website. I have contacted Verizon and they stated they have no control when the Nexus One will be available.

  6. Interesting insight into the N1 release, but readers should realize that anything on the internet at this point regarding the N1 is pure rumor.

google.com/phone is the one and only source to be trusted. Sadly, it doesn't say much about the release of the N1. 🙂

I think Moe is dead-on correct. They are trying to clear out current inventory and will sit on these equipment releases until they damn well please. Did they really think they were going to move that many Pres and Pixis? Sheesh.

I rely on Verizon's coverage, but this dance with the new gear is really starting to piss me off.

The feeling is mutual Jason. I have been planning on buying this phone since I heard it was going to be available on verizon. You would think that someone would have said something. Loyal customers deserve at least a tidbit of info. If apple is the cause of the delay then tell us so we can be mad at apple and not google or verizon. Ugh I'm hoping for the endof April.

  8. Jean says:

I agree with Jason. I'm really getting sick of waiting for a new phone. My current phone is on it's last limb & I can barely get it to charge anymore. Was talked into getting the HTC Droid Eris which is a joke b/c it's response time is so slow & outdated. I returned it b/c I thought a better phone would be releasing soon. I'm sick of Verizon taking so long! No one is going to buy up the inventory when we are ALL waiting for the new devices to release! If they don't do something quick they are going to lose customers!

The quote “Exclusively on America’s Largest and Most Reliable 3G Network” is their tag line. It has nothing to do with the phone that they are talking about being exclusive to Verizon.

However, I don't think they are talking about the N1. At this point, I think a Verizon N1 is just a myth. Like Bigfoot or the Lochness Monster…

  10. TenTenTen says:

The Nexus One is a Google phone. Verizon has no say on what the phone will have or when it will release. The phone is not offered by Verizon. That has been echoed throughout the Verizon regional managers from their bosses, they aren't even to mention it. Verizon is simply allowing the phone on their network, however, they do not sell it or support it and most likely will not offer insurance on it through Verizon (Asurion). The Nexus One is completely Google and only Google. On a side note, it seems that Google is much better at containing sensitive information than the government is. Hmmm….. As for Verizon employees, we have been told to sell the Incredible as soon as it is available. Verizon is pushing the Incredible.
