Verizon to conduct user trials of its LTE service in the summer

Verizon Wireless will be turning on its commercial LTE markets during the summer according to a comment from a company executive.

It has been reported that the comments serve to narrow the carrier’s next generation network launch window. CTO of Verizon Communications Richard Lynch said that in the fourth quarter we’ll be turning in markets as planned.

Previous reports had indicated just that the launch would be sometime later on during the year. The company intend on conducting some user friendly trials of the LTE service during the summer prior to the wider commercial rollout.

It is expected to launch to between 25 and 30 commercial markets this year which would cover 100 million POPs. Trial have been conducted in Boston and Seattle since summer last year, but the company hasn’t confirmed which markets will get the LTE service this year, nor what the pricing plans will be.
