Australia gets HTC Desire from Telstra

The very much awaited Android Smartphone the HTC Desire which was previously known as the HTC Bravo has now launched officially in Australia.

Telstra has the sole rights to sell the Desire for the first three months, as they are the exclusive carrier of the Desire. The HTC Desire is available for $779. The device is expected to become available in European and Asian markets in Q2 2010 and is also coming to US Cellular.

The price options available in Australia are either a 24 month plan and you get the HTC Desire phone for free by paying $85 every month with the total minimum cost being $2040 for lifetime contract option or you can get the unlocked version for just $779. Other options are available.

The Desire is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon, which has a 3.7 inch AMOLED touch sensitive screen running on Android 2.1 with HTC own user interface. 512MB flash memory, 576MB RAM a 5 megapixel camera with both auto focus and flash.
