iPhone 4G Gizmodo Scandal: Police Snatch Jason Chen’s PCs and Servers

Well now in the latest development in the lost iPhone 4G scandal we last heard that Apple were speaking to the law with a view to investigating the prospect of criminal charges being brought, and now there is another development.

According to the latest report from Gizmodo, last Friday night the Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team of California entered Gizmodo editor Jason Chen’s residence when he was not at home and snatched his four computers along with two servers.

Apparently the Computer Team acted under a warrant issued by a judge of the Superior Court of San Mateo; however according to the COO of Gawker Media LLC, Gaby Darbyshire, said search warrant to take the computers was invalid under section 1524(g) of the California Penal Code.

The guys over at Gizmodo have published the search warrant documentation along with an inventory of seized materials and a response by Gawker to the police and Jason Chen’s account of the event which can be viewed by visiting Gizmodo.
