Verizon Nexus One Gone, Will Verizon iPhone Follow?

We reported yesterday that Verizon is not going to offer the much talked about Verizon Nexus One much to the disappointment of some no doubt, the reason being is Verizon is to offer the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible as their Android offering instead.

The Google Nexus One superphone, albeit some problems with connectivity and such is a good Android smartphone, but no doubt had Verizon offered the device it could have been seen as direct competition with the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible.

Which begs the question will Verizon ever see the much hyped and obviously wanted Verizon iPhone? As there are constantly new smartphones on the horizon, by the time Verizon gains the iPhone more will be available and again the Verizon iPhone could be seen as direct competition with anything else Verizon had to offer.

So what this all boils down to is will there ever be a Verizon iPhone as long as the iPhone can out do sales of virtually any other smartphone? Or will the Verizon iPhone simply follow the same route as the Verizon Nexus One, hyped, expected, but never appears?
