Super Apps Developer Challenge Launched by BlackBerry Partners Fund

This year there is a new twist been placed on the BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge which will see developers building more than just the normal app, as according to an article over on crackberry, this year developers are being challenged to build “Super Apps.”

The BlackBerry Partners Fund has now launched their 3rd annual Developer Challenge which asks developers to produce “Super App” which take advantage of the BlackBerry platform’s unique capabilities with a total prize package of over $1.5 million US.

Newly developed and existing apps can be entered into the challenge where judges will evaluate submissions in 7 categories, Fun & Games, Knowledge, Productivity, Navigate & Explore, Multi-media, In the Know, and Sharing.

This year’s challenge will be the first to recognise BlackBerry apps on a regional basis over 4 global regions which are North America, Europe/Middle East/Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. Developer apps can be submitted as of right now up until the 6th of September 2010.

The week of September 27th, regional selections will be notified, then by November the 1st, regional semi-finalists in each category will be named, and on November the 18th 2010, regional winners and finalists will be announced.
