Samsung Galaxy S SIM Free Price and Release Date: Pre-order Now

The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 Android SIM Free smartphone is now ready for pre-order over on Play.com and is expected to release June 10.

At last we can now see the Samsung Galaxy S price and expected release date, the price for this phone is £449 with free delivery. That is not a bad price but we can expect to see it cheaper with other carriers such as Vodafone when it releases its 16GB configuration version.

This unlocked Samsung smartphone will feature a 5-megapixel camera with geo-tagging, face and smile detection, Android 2.1 OS, Video capture, WLAN enabled, 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, microSD slot (up to 32GB), 1GHz processor and so much more.

Please let us know if you have pre-ordered already, what is it about this phone you love so much. Will you pre-order from Play.com or wait and go with Vodafone for the 1GB configuration?

  1. Wait its only a few more days and twice the memory plus I get it free on the upgrade and Iphones are out of date…….or in the words of Eddie Lawson a WOZ

  2. Ethan says:

I pre-ordered from mobiles.co.uk then noticed that it was the 8gb version and Vodafone are hogging the 16gb version for themselves to sell directly.

    I cancelled the pre-order.

I'd rather save and get it sim-free as Vodafone's unlimited data is actually very limited to only 500mb per month by a fair use policy so I'd rather get it sim-free and a sim-only contract from O2. I live in a remote area and the O2 signal is far stronger.

If I can save up and get it sim-free then it's definitely the way to go. If not I suppose I'll get if drect fom Vodafone provided the deals aren't too stingy and they increase their data quantity to the same as they do on the Nexus One and the iPhone i.e. 1GB/month. It's still not much but it would do.

May be worth whacking this one, sim-free onto a credit card and telling stingy network providers what they can do with crappy contract deals. Will see how it goes…

This is one handset that could win Vodafone loads of new customers…. but only if they sort out the monthly data allocation and don't get too greedy on the contract side.
