iPhone Only Just Ahead of Toilet Flushing in UK Tech Study

So just how important is technology in the UK? Well apparently although the iPhone is quite technical it didn’t manage to snag the top slot in a recent study which was done by Tesco Mobile, but did manage to come in 8th position in the top ten.

According to an article over on the Telegraph, the iconic iPhone was voted into 8th place just ahead of toilet flushing at 9th and just behind Penicillin at 7th, while the 6th position was grabbed by the telephone and the internal combustion engine came in 10th, so which marvels of ingenuity grabbed the top 5 slots?

In 5th place was PCs, 4th came the Internet (god love it) in 3rd place was the light bulb, runner up was the aeroplane, and the number one slot in tech inventions was voted as the wheel, (I know a bit of a let down isn’t it.)

The CEO of Tesco Mobile, Lance Batchelor said of the study of 4000 consumers between the ages of 18 and 65, “All of the inventions included in this list have changed the world forever and remarked,” It’s amazing to see how much the iPhone is valued, sitting alongside inventions such as Penicillin in people’s perceptions and being declared a more important invention than miracle gadgets of their own time, such as the compass.”
