AT&T to launch HTC Aria with Android 2.1

It looks like wireless carrier AT&T will soon be joining the list of operators in the country to have Android based devices from HTC under their belt.

The report comes from Ionut Arghire over at softpedia.com and would mean that AT&T are about to join the likes of Verizon, Sprint and T Mobile as they are already on the list of having HTC Android based devices on offer.

AT&T announced a little while back that it would be releasing an HTC handset that would be running under Google’s Android operating system exclusively on their airwaves and although so far no information on that matter had emerged from the carrier rumour has it that the phone is set to become official during an announcement on the 7th June.

That happens to be the very same day that we should hear more from Apple at the WWDC. The buzz going around at the moment in that respect is that the device is going to be known as the HTC Aria. The rumours also suggest that the phone could arrive on AT&T with the Android 2.1 operating system. It is also assumed that it will have HTC Sense user experience and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

We know that AT&T already offer to Nexus One from HTC however, this device is only on sale through Google’s own web store and not from the carrier itself. Having said that as it seems the Internet Giant have announced plans to change their marketing for the Nexus One it could be that AT&T may soon have two HTC handsets powered by Android in its stores
